Meet Mr. Nolan. Mr. Nolan has started working here at Chavez High School for a week now. Before that, he worked at Stagg for 2 years until he was transferred to Chavez High School. Currently, he teaches ELD, ELD five, and ELD six. What he has experienced so far at Chavez is there are very polite teachers and the students are extra structured. He enjoys Chavez and likes it so far because of how nice it is and how nice the buildings are as well.
What he likes most about his job is getting to talk a lot with students and getting the opportunity to learn about them. What he likes about his students here is that they are very polite.
He went to Clovis High School in East Fresno, one of the classes out of many he had liked most was the debate team. He has attended 3 universities, the University of the Pacific for his undergrad, San Francisco State for his first master’s degree, and Western Governors University known as WGU. He reps the University of the Pacific.
His favorite hobbies during his time are reading and playing board games. His favorite song is ‘I Like My Coffee Black’ by Mindless Self Indulgence. One thing we haven’t known that has been surprising was he never took an English course in college even though he’s an English teacher here at Chavez.
The best advice that was given to him was not to study philosophy since there are not many job opportunities when you study philosophy.
Thank you Mr. Nolan Long for transferring to Chavez High School to help teach and help our community become a better place.
