Meet Amber Vaughns, she is a CTE education teacher at Cesar Chavez High School. She’s been a teacher for over 20 years at other schools but has been a teacher here at Chavez for the last 2 years. She loves being a teacher at Chavez, even though she didn’t see herself working with high schoolers. She really enjoys her job and doesn’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
Mrs. Vaughns attended a couple of colleges and is currently attending one right now, she is working on her doctorate at the University of Phoenix. Prior to that, she attended National University, Humphreys University, and Delta College. With all those colleges she has attended she represents the college she’s currently attending which is the University of Phoenix.
Mrs. Vaughns was inspired to join education by a paycheck since a banner caught her attention at college that said, “Money for college.” It was helpful to see that even she was lost on what to do for her career choice. She looked into it and ended up finding a program named Americorp and signed up. With that program, she was able to work in a classroom with little kids and loved it.
Mrs. Vaughn’s best advice that she has received has been `to keep going, don’t give up.” she hasn’t and with that, she pursued her career in early childhood. She is currently working with high school students even though she loves working with young kids she just wanted a challenge since she was with little kids for about 20 years. She loved working with kids, but also was ready for the change in the pay scale which also motivated her.
Here At Cesar Chavez High School, her students do workspace experience in which they do lesson planning and observations with the preschoolers here at Chavez. She tries to teach them the role of the teacher so they know what they could potentially be working toward if they want to pursue a career in education. So, if one is interested in being in education Mrs. Vaughn’s CTE Education class is the way to go for you, she’s an amazing teacher to have.
