Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua’s sacrifice is a masterpiece in both game play and its metaphorical meanings; as all this hype is granted because of all the public credit it took first place for “Best Indie” and second place for “Best Audio” at the Global Game Awards 2017.

This game follows the main character, Senua, which is added with the mythology of Norse and Celtic culture. As Senua is a Pict warrior with a goal to enter Helheim (Moberly called Hel or Hell) by defeating entities and their challenges to reclaim the soul of her lover from the goddess Hela.

This game interns the realm of mental problems, as the whole game plays a metaphor of Senua struggle with psychosis and this aspect add to the mystery tone of the game. With several brands of genres as of hack-and-slash, puzzle games, and psychological horror and released on August 8, 2017 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is an Independent A independent game or sometimes called ¨indie games¨ is community paid and mostly forged by a small group of developers. With massive rogue like games with lots random elements, this top-down 2D dungeon crawler shooter was released for most platforms in 2014, but the IOS and Switch version in 2017.

As its previous game, The Binding of Isaac, it still implies the story on the Biblical tale of Binding of Isaac. In this tears are used as the main why of damage with 341 different items that add unique and different effect to the game play with level called ¨rooms¨ each having challenges that put you on the test and imply all of your known knowledge. Each level ends with unique boss, all having there own method of fighting, and all have biblical reference.

This game makes you live on the edge of life and death, with a strategy base that can impact your whole run negatively or positively. This can almost be compared to the original ¨ The Legend of Zelda¨ in the rogue-like terms and holding tons of multimedia and joke easter eggs. This game makes you think and put your will at limits sometime, this is a game that everyone should try which can have unlimited replay potential.  

In of February 2015, a new expansion was added to the binding of Isaac, called Afterbirth. As of this new mode it said to be much harder and interacts with the fan more as of add fan make creation and mods. This expand was on items and the enemy as well, into this was the new mode called Greed mode and new characters as well.

Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight is a title of metroidvania (A sub-genre of action-adventure in video gaming, coming from Metroid and Castlevania; include tighter integration of story and level design, careful design of levels and character controls to encourage exploration and experimentation) made by an Australian team called Team cherry. This was released for Microsoft Windows in February 2017 and later for mac-OS and Linux in April 2017.

Hollow knight heavily revolves around exploration, platforming, and combat. This gameplay is related to similar platformer, and exist with unique aspect of its own like it being a metroidvania which means that some areas of the world is unreachable without accouring a set item. The combat also entices much skill as it closely resembles a fighter genre of game with striking in all directions and also special abilities.

As this game not only have a amazing game style, but also a reputation as well, gaining 2nd place in the Global Game Awards of 2017 in Best Indie and 4th place for Best original Game. With only these, it should bring more player and keep them hooked for long.
