Venom Directors Confirm Spider-Man Crossover
Anyone who is eager to see Tom Hardy and Tom Holland square off might be in luck. According to “Venom” director Ruben Fleisher, we will see “Venom” and “Spider-Man” face off on the big screen soon. He also confirmed to Fandom that the plan for Hardy’s “Venom” franchise from the beginning has been for it to build to a “Spider-Man” crossover movie.
“That’s where it’s all going to lead,” Fleisher said. “And that’s the exciting thing, because we’ve changed the origin of Venom. In the comics he evolved from Spider-Man, but because of that Sony-Marvel thing we weren’t able to do that. And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other.”
Ruben`s involvement of his new movie “Zombieland: Double Tap” has prevented him from taking on the “Venom” sequel, which has already gone into production with director and motion capture genius Andy Serkis. Fans (including myself) have long awaited for Holland`s Spider-Man to fight Hardy’s Venom. Marvel Studios president Kevin Fegie said in June that a crossover movie “seemed likely” although it depends on Sony.
