How To Remove Facebook account from Oculus Quest 2
In the V43 update for Oculus Quest 2, you can now remove your Facebook account from the Quest 2, and skip the requirement to log in to your VR headset with a Facebook account. However, you will have to make a Meta and Horizon account before January 1st, 2023. Before you start, make sure your headset is up to date, you don’t want to risk your headset getting a factory reset.
To get started you will first need to go to meta.com/setup, make sure you log in to your Facebook account that is used for the Quest. When you log in to your Facebook account, you will see a page saying “we’ll move your VR apps and info from your existing account to your new Meta account,” click next to the next page. You will see the option to continue without Facebook and set up with Facebook, and you will see what you will lose from the choice you make, but in this case, you will want to click continue without Facebook. When you go to the next page you may get a prompt asking you to update your password, a confirmation code will be sent to your email, when you get the code from your email put the code in the confirmation box and click continue. When you do this, create a new password for your meta account and review the email address, name, and date of birth, then click finish account setup.
When you finish that you will now create a horizon profile, click next and enter a display name, everyone can see your display name. When you finish with that you will now see options to review your friends, when you click your preferences, click review and click accept and continue. When you see the next page don’t press finish yet click on the link that says device code or go to meta.com/device. Go to your headset and look at the code, enter the code on the website and click connect your device, and you are done.
You should still have your apps and account on the headset, and you may have to log back into your oculus app on your phone. Your Facebook account should now be removed from your Oculus Quest 2, you could now delete Facebook or do anything you want with it, but now it’s not connected to your headset.
