Will the Dead Space remake be as good or greater than the original?
Dead Space is a sci-fi survival horror game created by EA Redwood Shores that came out on October 14, 2008, and is 15 years old; which is crazy to think. It was available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game has a 9/10 on GameSpot and an 8.7/10 on IGN, and the game still holds up today.
The remake of the game was announced on July 22, 2021, at EA Play, and the development team has been posting ‘update videos’ about the development of the game. There were improvements and new features shown in these videos. Some changes they made are that the gravity sections have been improved for better control. There are also new side quests, new alternate fire modes for weapons, new puzzles, new voice acting for the main character, a change in the layout of the levels, and of course better graphics.
The game really didn’t need a remake but the new changes and updates may make the game feel different. The game was unique at the time since it was a survival horror game that takes place in a spaceship, and the game was inspired by Resident Evil 4, another amazing horror game.
The question though is can it be as great or even better than the original? The game looks promising from the videos that the development team posted, and there are changes to make the game better gameplay-wise, graphics-wise, and even audio-wise. The audio from the original was great and added to the atmosphere of the game, and they are improving it even more. They also made a system for the main character’s heart rate, breathing, and dialogue. The system is called A.L.I.V.E. which adds more audio detail to the character.
Overall, I think the game is going to be a big success, but we will see. The game comes out on January 27 and if you preorder the game on Steam, you get the original Dead Space 2 for free which is a nice add on.
