On September 28, 2023, The YouTube channel Vivziepop announced that their animated show Hazbin Hotel is going to be streaming the first season and full 8 episodes on Amazon Prime in January of 2024.
For the people who don’t know what Hazbin Hotel is here’s a quick recap. It’s an American animated Musical television series created by Vivienne Medrano known as “VivziePop” during the Pilot episode which came out on October 28, 2019, on YouTube It’s essentially about a demon girl named Charlie who is the princess of hell and the daughter of Satan, she has her own hotel and her one true goal she wants to make is to rehabilitate Demons to lower overpopulation in her kingdom. As she is hopeful that her dream can come true most of the hell laughs at her for the impossible tasks her partner’s name Vaggie and their experimental subject Angel Dust has her back no matter what most demons have to say about it. Then a powerful being known as a “Radio Demon” comes to help Charlie and make her dreams come true.
During a 2020 interview with the Double Toasted YouTube channel, the creator Vivienne Medrano said: “There’s something about Demonology that’s just always been fun to me and I’m not even you know it doesn’t go past that like I’m just so fascinated with the whole aesthetic you know the kind of dark the edgy I really love monsters and creatures and stuff they’re really fun to draw so demons are kind of like the perfect blend Because you can kind of give them this bigger grander feeling while also the sky’s the limit in terms of design because they don’t exist.”
Vivienne also mentioned during the interview that Tim Burton had a huge influence on her but only with a couple of his movies she didn’t grow up with a lot of his films Vivienne soon showed more later in her life. One of her favorite movies of all time from Burton is The Nightmare Before Christmas, that one was a huge influence on her and that reflects on Hazbin Hotel is the way her characters are lanky.
The cast of Hazbin Hotel is going to be very star-studded like talents such as Erika Henningsen from (Les Miserables: The Broadway Musical) is playing Charlie Moringstar, Stephanie Beatriz from (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Vaggie, Alex Brightman (The Blacklist) as Sir Pentious, Keith David from (Community) as Husk, Kimiko Glenn from (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) as Nifty, Blake Roman from (Blue Bloods) as Angel Dust, and Amir Talai from (Stuck) as Alastor.
I feel like this show is going to bring in more people into the fandom because animation influences so many different people just by how each of the stories is told, the characters they make, and the messages they want to tell to us brings a lot of people together that just wants something to love and care about.
At the end of the day, Vivziepop is going to bring this show to life even more. They are known to do that just by their sideshow projects like Bad Luck Jack, Holidaze, and the best-known show so far Helluva Boss which is also based in Hell just like Hazbin.
