Mean Girls is a 2000s staple movie for the topic of iconic teen movies. It’s loved for its overflowing amount of lines that are still quoted nearly 20 years later! Even with its age, it remains to be timeless and a classic to rewatch. Not only is it known for its comedy of preppy teenage girls with unrealistic expectations of high school but it shows aspects of what fashion trends were going on at the time. Reputation being their biggest concern, it explains why they’ll do anything to maintain their image, even if it takes the form of backstabbing.

This is another timeless and relevant film that’s crammed with 90s fashion, comedic quotes, and exaggerated satire. Similar to the girls in Mean Girls, the main character in this film is Cher, a kind-hearted, rich, Beverly Hills teen. She tries her best to help people’s lives around her as she lives alone in a big mansion with her stepbrother and business-absorbed father. Clueless has had a big influence on movies following its release.

Bring it On

Another teen-based movie is Bring It On. Just like Mean Girls, there’s high school drama but it’s branched out to multiple schools. They bring the conflict to cheerleading. Something unique about this trilogy series is that we can see how the two teams are linked together with cheer but they’re still so different due to where they’re based at. The place they’re based in affects what cheers they call which is cool to see the two different styles sync up and how that brings up conflict later on. 

10 Things I Hate About You

The protagonist, Kat, is the opposite of popular and could honestly care less about growing her reputation. Her sister, on the other hand, Bianca, is far different from Kat. Due to this, their father takes advantage by implying a rule that Kat must date Bianca to date as well. This rule brings on a guy paying a popular loner to date Kat so he can pull through with dating Bianca afterward. Initially, the bet was the only reason for Patrick to try with Kat but he later fell for her charm and changed the reasoning for why he asked her out in the first place.

Legally Blonde

Elle Woods is a typically glamorous and bubbly teen girl who is soon to graduate high school. She begins college as a sorority girl but her high school sweetheart boyfriend broke up with her as they were long distance. She doesn’t give up and takes this as motivation to get herself into Harvard Law. People saw their doubts but she proved that she’s smarter than they’ve credited her for.
