Playboi Carti, known for his high-energy performances, enjoys popularity within the rap community despite a hiatus of nearly three and a half years since his last album release on Christmas 2020.
A notable change emerged with the debut of Travis Scott’s album “UTOPIA.” Instead of his trademark high-pitched voice, Carti introduced a new, deeper vocal style, intriguing fans who titled it “Deep Voice Carti.”
This transformation has astonished the music community, pondering Carti’s future direction. In December, he teased new music on his Instagram, featuring the “Deep Voice Carti.” Weeks later, DJ “Akademiks” confirmed during a livestream that Playboi Carti would indeed be dropping a new album in early January, although this wasn’t the case entirely, across various platforms we’re given new tracks to listen to and enjoy.
Among the recent singles dropped, none debuted on major music platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. Instead, they’re readily available on YouTube. Notable tracks include “Evil Jordan,” “Hoodbyair,” “Backrooms” featuring Travis Scott, and “2024,” which stands out with Carti’s old higher-pitched voice alongside the “deep” version.
Carti’s “Deep Voice” has garnered attention, notably on Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s recent collab album “VULTURES 1,” delivering standout performances. Snippets hint at his potential features on upcoming projects like “VULTURES 2” and possibly “VULTURES 3.”
The future of this new vocal style remains uncertain, but one thing is certain: Playboi Carti is not entirely making a comeback as he never really left due to his various features upon other tracks for different albums or singles, more so an actual consistent comeback.
