A lot of attention has been brought up, especially due to the recent event of the Met Gala that happened this May of 2024. It turns out that this rage of the public came from the disappointment of their silence about the current Israel war, shifting attention away from Gaza. 

There are arguments on the way they use their money. These celebrities are billionaires and make millions of dollars but have a history of not contributing to the war, and keeping silent of all the tragedies. People have said the event makes them seem all glamorous as the world surrounding them is suffering and they are not using any of their advantages to take any part of it.

The Met has received tons of backlash, dating back to popular TikTok, Haley Baylee who attended. Showing up in dress code, she posted a video to her account using audio that says “Let them eat cake.” This is an old French phrase mostly attributed to Marie-Antoinette referring to her wealth as compared to those less fortunate. This started a stir on TikTok and realistically brought her career to an end due to being “canceled.”

The timing of the Met Gala made millions of people upset because of the attention on world problems being taken away and shifted to a celebrity event all about wealth and materialism.
