Developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is an action and adventure game that has gained attention for its differences. Something shocking about the game is that even though it is part of the Pokémon series, it offers a whole different experience from the other games. So far, I think it’s a pretty fun game, and I will definitely continue to play it.
Starting with the storyline, the game takes place in an old village that’s surrounded by wilderness. During this time, people are scared of Pokemon and don’t know much about them, so this is where you come in. Unlike other games in the series that primarily focus on battling gym leaders and collecting badges, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has no gyms. The game’s primary goal is to complete a Pokédex by catching, studying, and battling the Pokémon. This changes the series’ focus from becoming the most muscular trainer to building a connection with the Pokémon and helping others do the same.
Some minor features added were two new battle styles and a behavior change of wild Pokémon, but a prominent feature added to the game is crafting and gathering. In past games, it heavily relied on shops; players had to buy their Pokéballs. Crafting encourages players to explore materials, adding more adventure and survival to the game.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a fun game because it offers a big, open world with lots to explore. The story is also straightforward to follow, and anyone new to the Pokémon series can understand it instantly because everything is explained clearly. However, the tasks can become repetitive and boring, like catching the same Pokémon to complete an entry in the Pokédex. I also think that because there are no voice actors, reading all the dialogue can become tiresome, but overall, the game is fun once you get into it. I’d recommend this game to people who like open-world, adventure, and cute games.
