An advanced wars-like game called Warside is coming to Steam this month. Warside is an indie game developed by First Beak Labs, and it has an advanced wars-like style with units, Co’s, and their Battle powers. Advance Wars was a game developed by Intelligence Systems and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance.
The first game was released on September 10, 2001, and received positive views. It had units and commanding officers you could pick with different buffs, like Max, who has 40 percent firepower to direct units. But his indirect suffer from less range and 20 minus percent firepower. It has a campaign and a multiplayer mode that has you against AI and human players with verus and link mode. It also has Co power, which buffs or affects damaged units. The game had very positive reviews and won Handheld Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
The Second game was released on June 23, 2003, called Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising. There were new units like the Neo tank and Super Co powers that were more powerful than the co-powers. The game received a positive view and won Best Handheld Game of the Year at the European Computer Trade Show. The next game released in 2005 was called Advance Wars: Dual Strike. It won the Editorial Choice awards by IGN, Gamespot, and Game of the Month by Gamespy. The last Advance Wars game was Days of Ruin in 2008 and received mostly positive reviews.
For 13 years, there was silence for another Advance Wars game. Until late 2021 on the Nintendo Direct when they announced the reboot of the Advance Wars. It was supposed to be released in late 2021 but was pushed back to April 2022 due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It was released in April of 2023, and while it received very positive reviews, many people didn’t like the new graphic remakes and some of the bugs in Advance Wars reboot. The Co’s AI was dumb in most ways, making most campaign games easy.
In late 2022, First Labs Games began developing an Advanced warlike game called Warside. The first trailer and demo were released in Late 2024. The reviews have been positive so far. Most people say that the game has an advanced warlike feeling, is simple, and has new units. The Warside game will launch on January 28, 2025.
