Vegas Invades Spirit Week at Chavez
Cesar Chavez High School Spirit week is underway on campus for the week of September 18 through September 22. Students are dressing up to show their spirit all in order to win points for their SLCs in order to determine graduation order. This year the theme of Homecoming is Las Vegas Landmarks. Each day is labeled after a casino or restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At Cesar Chavez High School the purpose of spirit week is to motivate and support students at our school, it also helps students to get involved more with the school. Participating in spirit week gives SLCs points that count towards the senior graduation. The SLCs are Engineering, Communication Technology, Capa, Law and Order, and Health Science.
Spirit week was created by leadership students in Mr. Areida’s student government. Junior Secretary Hailey Ortega stated, “ I think it is pretty cool because it is different and unique to participate in.”
“It’s going to be good! What happens in Chavez stays in Chavez!” the Junior Treasurer Hannah Chan mimicked the common Las Vegas tourist saying. Below is the list of the Spirit Week events that CCHS Student Government created.
