Joining the military

Ever thought about joining the military after High school? Ever thought about how you could join the military and what are the steps and benefits towards it? Well, listen closely and you shall find the answer to it.

If you ever thought about joining the military, are you perhaps interested in joining the army, marine corps, navy, air force, space force, coast guard, or national guard? These are the 6 different types of branches of the military that America has to offer.  To know more about each specific topic, click this link here: https://www.defense.gov/Our-Story/Our-Forces/

To see if you have the eligibility to join the military,  you must be a U.S citizen or a resident alien with a green card and know how to speak; write; and read English, must be at least 17-34 years old with parental consent, and have a high school diploma. You also must pass the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test and pass a Military Processing Station medical exam, which includes your height/weight, your sight, and your hearing, etc. To know more about the ASVAB, click this link here: https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/asvab and to take sample questions of the ASVAB, click this link here: https://www.officialasvab.com/applicants/sample-questions/

If you don’t know where to start off with how to join the military, here are the steps:

  1. Research about your options for joining the military
  2. Learn about the 5 active duty branches and their part-time counterparts + the differences between officers and enlisted members
  3. Contact a recruiter when you’ve found the branch you’re considering. They’ll answer questions/ give you an overview of the branch. If you’re interested in multiple, contact other recruiters for each
  4. If you want to join as an officer, a recruiter will explain ANY options you may be eligible for
  5. If you decide to enlist, then you must report to a military entrance processing station (MEPS) which usually takes a day to complete. If you are accepted, you will later be prepared for basic training starting a few weeks after
