Every 15 Minutes
Matthew Fisher. a senior at Cesar Chavez, who will be missed dearly by family and friends. He participated in an act to show the effects of drunk driving. He played the part of the supplier of alcohol, and “paid with his life.” He planned to go to Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology. This program, “Every 15 Minutes” is a event for juniors and seniors to show you the effects of drunk driving.
“It was really intense,” said Matthew Fisher.
I caught up with Matthew during fourth period and already had some questions to ask him. As I asked him about his experience about “Every 15 Minutes”, he replied, “It was a real life experience. Though I was laying down, I could hear everyone and the emotion. He learned to not drink and drive seeing that he had experienced the consequences.
As we chatted, he talked about how he barely wears his seat belt but now he always wears it now. An advice that he had to kids was to never grow up and wear your seat belts! I asked him how he would’ve felt if his friends, or him himself, was in that position, what would he do. He told me, “I would be devastated to have lost a friend I could never get back.” And when asked if he had lost anyone to a tragic accident, he said, “Thank god no.”
Matthew feels that all students should experience this program. And that it was really good to go through that experience.
