Bread Of Life

A community is defined as a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. Stockton, voted one of the worst cities in America multiple times, isn’t known for its community togetherness. However, over the years there has a been a movement occurring from within the citizens of this town to create a more friendly and giving community. That is where the Bread of Life event comes into place, having helped since 2010.

Bread of Life is a community event where the communities of San Joaquin County help out our citizens in many ways. One big event that we all have a part in is where we pack groceries for families who need it and take it to their car. It is a way to help the unfortunate by helping with the littlest of things. This event takes place every third Saturday of the month and anyone can come and volunteer. The Stockton Bread of Life is held at 3034 Michigan Ave, Stockton, CA 95204.

The Cesar Chavez High School Key Club has always attended the event and loves participating. Fellow Chavez student Tuyet Hong stated, “Providing for the less fortunate brings back memories. I remember those days when my family were the ones on the receiving end. My experience with Bread of Life sustains me to always be humble. I’m grateful to now have the opportunity to give back to the community.”

Bread of Life is only one event that you can help your community out with, but it is a very effective one. This will leave you feeling proud that you helped a family in need and gave them a reason to stay in Stockton. So come down and help in anyway you can so we can truly unite our community.
