Ricky Gervais Goes Off On Hollywood

On January 5, 2020, Ricky Gervais, a comedian, actor, writer, and film producer, hosted the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. This is Ricky Gervais Fifth time hosting the Golden Globe Awards and as he said in his monologue this would be his last time hosting the award show. Gervais is known for his offensive jokes when doing his monologues for his past hosting of the Golden Globes, but this year Gervais went off on ALL of Hollywood.

In his monologue, Gervais makes fun of actors, companies, directors, and many more celebrities from TV and the movie industry. He went off on how they have no business lecturing the audience when they come up and win an award. One joke made by Ricky was mentioning the controversy between the death of Jeffrey Epstein. He also called out directors this year for use of pedophilia in their movies, calling all the directors perverts. He also mentioned how movies now are lazy, remakes, sequels, and just plain awful and that all the best actors are on either HBO, Netflix, or both. Gervais goes on and keeps throwing jabs at actors in Hollywood mentioning that actors who still make Hollywood movies just makes stupid fantasy-adventure nonsense wearing skintight clothes and masks.

Gervais ended off his fifth and final time hosting the Golden Globe Awards by telling all the actors/directors to not use winning an award as a political speech platform. He went on to tell them that they are in no position to lecture the public about anything. Ricky ended off with a bang by saying, “So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent, and your God and f*** off, OK?“. This attracted many viewers because of how brutal Ricky Gervais was this year on the Golden Globe Awards.
