The History behind President Biden’s sworn in bible
On Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, Joe Biden became the 46th president of the United States.
Like many Americans, I was at home with my mom watching history take place through the inauguration. The first thing that I took note of was the huge golden bird plastered on Lady Gaga’s chest. The second thing that caught my eye was the bible President Biden swore in on. Looking at this 5 inch thick Bible, you can see it is well aged and must be important to the Biden family.
The bible has been in the Biden family since 1893 and has been used every time he takes office starting from when he was sworn in as Delaware’s U.S senator in 1973 and when he became vice president 2009 and 2013.
“Every Important date is in there. For example, every time I’ve been sworn in for anything, the date has been on that, and its inscribed on the Bible” Biden told Stephan Colbert in an interview.
Not only is Joe Biden the one to use the bible, but his late son that passed, Beau Biden, used it for his own swearing-in as Delaware Attorney.
Joe Biden became the second Catholic President following John F. Kennedy.
