How to get your license at 16
Many wait until 18 to get it, but did you know that you can get your own driver’s license when you’re just 16? The best part of it is that you can start the process as early as 15 and a half years old. The process is quite simple and easy because there are just three simple steps!
The first step is to take the in-person class to learn the rules of the road which is about 4 to 5 hours and lasts for only a week. You learn the illegal thing not to do and the legal things you should be doing, and you get tips on how to pass your driving test.
The second step is obtaining a permit by succeeding in the class and by taking a colossal forty-nine questions permit test at the DMV. However, you can only have at least three questions incorrect and if you fail, you will have to retake the test in no sooner than eight days. So make those studies count!
The third step is creating an appointment with the Delta School of Driving, or any driving school, to set up a driving session which is like small practice and getting the feel of the ride. The driving session should last around two hours long, but you won’t be alone doing it as there will be at least one experienced driving instructor aiding you. You will take three driving sessions in the span of 6 months, after which you can take your driving test.
For the ‘behind the wheel test,’ you are only allowed to have a total of 15 points in deductions and still pass. After you finally pass the driving test, in a weeks-time, you’ll be given your first driver’s license, in the mail. I know, very unceremonious, but you got it champ!
Because you are under 18 with a license, you can not drive with any other minors or underage individuals in the car until you are 18. After that three easy steps, you will be the cool kid with a car at school because no one will be car lifting you anywhere other than yourself unless you break the law.
