On November 3, 1954, the people of Japan got to see a masterpiece movie. Two years later, the Americans would also see this movie. When a nuclear test accidentally wakes up a giant lizard of Godzilla, he swims to Tokyo and destroys it. It is up to a group of scientists to find a way to kill the lizard before he goes on another rampage.
This movie was a cultural phenomenon and is considered the most influential film ever. Developed by Toho Co., it was a black and white film with a giant lizard who roars and fires a blue fire breath, incinerating anything that touches around it.
In the 70 years since Godzilla was introduced, he appeared in 39 official movies. This introduced many monsters, like Mothara and his arch-enemy King Ghidoa. In 1998, Tri Picture Studios Acquired the rights to the movie. While three movies were planned, only one was released, and an animated series was produced.
After the Godzilla Final Wars movie, director Yoshimitsu Banno acquired permission from Toho to produce a short IMAX Godzilla film. In 2009, he turned it over to the production of Legendary Pictures.
Godzilla would succeed, grossing 529 million dollars, and produce three more movies and a series on Apple TV +. It would also sell lots of merchandise and inspire other movies like Jurassic Park and Jaws.
