Frozen yogurt: a very versatile dessert

Frozen yogurt is a dessert admired by many for its unique flavors and wide array of toppings. You can personalize the frozen dessert to your own liking by making it healthy and simple with fruits and nuts, or by adding sugary and sweet toppings to create a delightful treat. 112 out of 122 students said they eat frozen yogurt frequently enough to have a preferred topping.

The frozen yogurt itself can come in many different flavors, and toppings are chosen to compliment those flavors. Some of the most common toppings are cheesecake bites, Oreo crumbs, mochi, nuts, boba, and fruit. Although frozen yogurt is categorized as a dessert, it can be eaten at any time of the day (it’s never too early for frozen yogurt).

“Frozen yogurt is a great alternative to ice cream because it’s healthier but still good. You can never over-indulge in frozen yogurt,” Ky’Tavia Stafford ’16 said.

According to the polls, Oreo crumbs are the most favored froyo toppings, as nearly 34 percent of Chavez students preferred to adorn their dessert in the chocolate cookie crumbs. Of the 60 people that didn’t choose Oreo crumbs, 29 said they’d rather enjoy fresh fruit, 18 preferred cheesecake bites, 10 liked mochi, 7 for nuts, and 6 for boba. Only 10 students didn’t choose a topping as they don’t eat frozen yogurt very often.

Regardless of your favorite toppings, frozen yogurt is a dessert everyone can agree on and enjoy with their friends and family, any day of the week, any time of year.
