The years of 2022 and 2023 have brought out shoes that have been hidden in the shadows for years, giving them time to shine in the fame. Take the Adidas Sambas for example, it was initially seen as nothing more than a typical shoe. Somehow it made its way to street-fashion essential shoes, as it sold out everywhere. Its clean and parable colorways took the runway as model, Bella Hadid, wore it for years now. I’d say she was an important reason for its spike in popularity.
How about the hit of New Balances? First, they were mocked as chunky dad shoes, but it’s seen a massive turn-around these past few years. The silhouette is a big factor in whether a shoe is liked, it’s important to those who take an interest in fashion. Sometimes it makes me wonder if the shoe is really a good look, or is everyone just hopping on the bandwagon for that year?
So, what does 2024 have in store with shoe trends? We’ve seen a peek at what may be selling out quickly and they’re similar to the Adidas Sambas. The significant uprise of Adidas Gazelles is happening, mainly due to the number of colorways available to purchase. Adidas has been making so much profit from countless styles that have been loved recently.
Another pair is the Onitsuka Tigers, which did have a time of its own, except the Sambas soon came to take its place that same year.
Despite Golden Gooses being more hated than liked, I feel like there’s an odd chance it can pop up as a shoe trend this year. They’re overpriced and purposely made to look dirty, so the chances may be slim. If they were cheaper, I do believe it’d have a greater chance. It could’ve taken the place of either Sambas or New Balance 550s.
