On March 16, 2024, a Saturday in Las Vegas was the Korean pop music girl group TWICE’s 5TH WORLD TOUR called ‘READY TO BE’ ONCE MORE. It was held in Allegiant Stadium with a very excited audience. Their opening was VCHA, a newly international girl group by JYP Entertainment, where Twice is from. This opening group (VCHA) had a missing member for health reasons, but their performance was fantastic. These girl groups were skilled at making sure that fans were engaged.
The stadium had people on the ground floor, some on the rows, and a couple above in a higher building. The seats were very close to each other. The concert was very thrilling as the stadium was filled with light sticks supporting the group. While the show continued, they taught us the fan chants and told the fans to switch the colors of the light sticks to follow the song. Since they spoke Korean, there was an English translator to help everyone understand.
There were merch lines outside of the stadium, but some attended the venue they had a day before for early access to the merch. There were fans with many clear bags and amazing outfits. The concert was very strict on people carrying only clear bags or none at all, for safety reasons. Their performance was about three hours, showing each member their solos. For instance, member Jeongyeon performed a cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling.”
My experience was alright. I enjoyed seeing the group and hearing their excellent singing and dancing. The volume was significant, but the seating I arranged was placed next to an obnoxious fan. This individual screamed and shouted many times during the performance. I couldn’t hear sometimes, or he would make dancing gestures to my siblings. This interaction made my experience uncomfortable. Even with this incident, the concert was excellent, and it was nice to see one of my favorite groups on stage for the first time in person.
