Even though Concord failed badly and was a disaster, it didn’t come close to what happened on December 7, 2023, when The Day Before launch was a disaster. There were bugs, gameplay issues, etc.
Fntastic developed the Day Before and was announced in January 2021 with a gameplay trailer. The game was set to release on June 21, 2022, but was delayed because they wanted to move to the Unreal Engine 5. The day before, the page on Steam was taken down due to trademark issues.
They delayed it again, and many people have begun speculating on the game, some even calling it a scam. They denied it was a scam, claiming that “we didn’t take a penny from people: no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations.” After publishing an 11-minute preview footage, they were struck by a copyright strike after a developer with the same name for the calendar app had a trademark issue.
After that debacle, the game was released on December 7, 2023, and received heavy negative reviews. Many of the servers the gamers tried to join didn’t fully connect. It also felt like the dialogue for the characters in the game was artificially voiced. No compelling characters and no real story made this game a failure.
The game was pulled from Steam, and the servers shut down in late January. They refunded any person who purchased the game.
