Mariachis are exposed to different things daily. Every time they go to a gig, job, or performance, they always end up with a new adventure. During my years as a mariachi I have gotten the opportunity to meet great instructors at conferences and unexpectedly, in my neighborhood. I have also gotten to give back the the community by volunteering my time to play for community events. I’ve experienced going to shows, the stress and enjoyment of being in shows, giving concerts, playing in the cold, and relaxing with new great friends I have met along the way. Not only this, but with mariachi music, I have learned to embrace my Mexican roots. I learn first hand the traditions of my people such as celebrating saints and having parties for girls coming of age. It can be easily said that in the mariachi world, the unexpected is always expected.
