First Amendment Rights
First Amendment Rights applies to high school and elementary students. In many cases, many schools failed to give them that. West Virginia State Board of Education V. Barnette, 1943. Students were forced to salute the flag every morning as a part of the standard school curriculum. Those who didn’t would be expelled from the school.
A group of Jehovah’s Witness families refused to salute it, and filed a suit to challenge the curriculum as a violation to their rights. They were accepted to have their case at the supreme court. The supreme court ruled 6-3 that the school district violated their rights.
Another case, Minnesota student was suspended for a sarcastic tweet about a teacher. An anonymous account tweeted about the student making out with the teacher and he replied “Actually, yeah.” Summer was near and school was about to end, but still the school suspended him multiple times. He is asking for the school to change there policies, and apologized to the teacher.

In the movie “Live Free” many incidents of The First Amendment Rights happened. Many people in Texas had a riot against the Ku Klux Klan. But, even then they still had their right to speak.
The First Amendment Rights are important because it guarantees that you can speak your mind.
