NFL Power Rankings Through October
Another 4 weeks has passed and the month of October is over. Some teams remain at the top and some new teams enter the top 10 for the first time. This is the NFL power rankings for the month of October.
- New England Patriots – Still remaining at number 1 after 8 weeks goes to show the Patriots are just the best team right now. Their defense has been the biggest story, best defense in the league and leading in almost every defensive states. Also one can not forget about the offense and Tom Brady, as they are first in points scored too. The Patriots are one of the two teams that still remain undefeated with a record of 8-0.
- San Francisco 49ers – Moving their way up to second, the 49ers have been outstanding so far. They are just like another version of the Patriots, great defense that is ranked second in the league. With also having a great running attack on offense that is currently second and a ranking of third in total points. The 49ers are also undefeated with a record of 7-0.
- New Orleans Saints – After backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went 5-0 as a starter really says something about the Saints. The team is better when Drew Brees plays, but you have to give credit to Bridgewater and the Saints for playing that well. Also their defense is solid too, an underrated defense. Brees is back and they are currently 7-1.
- Green Bay Packers – First couple of weeks the Packers have relied on their defense, but now not so much. They have play makers on the defensive side of the ball and that’s it. On the other hand their offense is starting to heat up. Aaron Rodgers has taken control and could be in the conversation of MVP. Packers are also 7-1.
- Baltimore Ravens – One of the best offenses in the league, the Ravens relay on a heaving rushing game. They also can put up a lot of points, efficient on 3rd down so its hard to get them off the field. Their defense still could use some work, but they are good at stopping the run. The Ravens are 5-2 right now.
- Houston Texans – Quarterback Deshaun Watson is just amazing, they know how to put up points. With about an average rank of five in almost every offensive categories, their offense is dangerous. People questioned about making trades to get help on the offensive line, but it has worked out. If you give Watson time he will make the plays for his team to win. Current record of 5-3.
- Seattle Seahawks – Like the Texans and Deshaun Watson, quarterback Russell Wilson is also just fantastic. He too should be in the conversation for MVP this year and that’s why the Seahawks are playing so well right now. Offensively they are ranked about 10th in every category, but it will be interesting to see how far they can go. They are currently 6-2.
- Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs had a tough October, but are still a great team. Last week superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes got injured and backup QB Matt Moore played fine in his first game. The Chiefs are very smart and a well coached team. Even without Mahomes they can still score points. Ranked about 5th in every offensive categories expect rushing yards.
- Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings had a great month of October and proving us wrong a little bit. There is concern about whether or not Kirk Cousins can win games, but he was on fire this month. The Vikings are a very balanced team and have great players on offense and defense. They are third in total yards and rushing yards, with an average of about 5th in every defensive category. The Vikings are 6-2.
- Los Angles Rams – After losing 3 straight and 2 of them division games, the Rams are on a little roll right now. Once trading for star corner Jalen Ramsey their defense just got better. The Rams have, I would say, the best receiving core in the league and love to pass the ball around. Ranked 4th in passing yards and 8th in points and total yards. This is the toughest division in football with the 49ers and Seahawks playing so well. The Rams get the 10th spot and are currently 5-3.
