Backup center Dwight Howard is set to participate in the Dunk Contest this year in Chicago, during All-Star Weekend. Howard starred in the Dunk Contest from 2007-09, and won it in 2008 with his famous Superman dunk while wearing a cape. His addition is sure to bring in a lot of notoriety to the competition after his memorable dunks from years past.

In addition to Howard, Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was also contemplating an invitation to compete in the this years Slam Dunk Contest. Recent reports however have stated that Morant has reportedly declined the invitation in order to stay healthy for the remainder of the season. He has been cautious in his recovery from back spasms that occurred as a result of crashing into a baseline camera operator in November. The good news is that he hasn’t ruled out future dunk contests. 

The 2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest will be held on February 15, one day before the All Star Game is played.
