This past week it was this year’s NFL Combine which took place in Lucas Oil Stadium home of the Indianapolis Colts.
The NFL Combine is an event that takes place over 4 days where draft-eligible prospects are invited to show off their physical skills such as speed, vertical, strength, etc.
Before we get into the fallers just remember a bad combine doesn’t determine how good a player is and the draft projections are my own.
Penn State Cornerback Kalen King
Projected late 1st round pick falling to 5th round pick: No one’s stock has fallen more than Kalen King’s stock. Once a projected first-round pick but ever since the Senior Bowl his stock has fallen astronomically. At the Senior Bowl he looked lost in man coverage and at the Combine he ran a 4.61 40-yard dash which will not cut it in the NFL. His drills did not move me at all. If he wants to work in the league he should move to Safety. He might find more success there rather than Corner.
South Carolina Quarterback Spencer Rattler
Projected 4th round pick falling to 6th round pick: Once predicted the new Patrick Mahomes at some point he has looked like anything but him. At the combine, he ran a 4.95 40-yard dash which is slower than expected, and his throws were overthrown or the receiver had to make a play to catch the ball.
Oregon Wide Receiver Troy Franklin
Projected late 1st round falling to late 2nd round pick: During the Combine, Troy Franklin struggled to catch balls during drills and was slower during them despite running a 4.41 40-yard dash. He was all over the place while running the Gauntlet and didn’t look as explosive as I expected. However, his stock falling is not all his fault as almost every receiver in the combine around his projected draft pick just looked way better.
