Gilligan’s Island was aired for three seasons on CBS from September 26,1964-September 4,1967.The show had solid ratings during its original run, it eventually became a lot more popular during the time the show ran in  syndication in the 1970s and 1980s, when the show was on T.V in the late afternoon when the kids got out of school. The show is comedic schemes, alliances, betrayals, and petty manipulations, usually over the most minor of things.

Bob Denver played as the main character Gilligan- The bumbling, naive,accident-prone crewman of the S.S minnow.  Alan Hale Jr. played as the captain/ The Skipper Jonas Grumpy- A father figure to Gilligan, world war II veteran and also the one to hit Gilligan in the head with his hat.  Thurston Howell III (Jim Backus)- The millionaire,he is a Harvard graduate , a republican and a multi-billionaire who became a multi-millionaire in the great depression.  Eunice Lovelle Wentworth Howell (Natalie Schafer)-The wife of Thurston  Howell II.  Ginger Grant (Tina Louise)- The Movie Star. Professor Roy Hinkly Ph.D ( Russell Johnson)-A High School science teacher . Last but not least  there’s  Mary Ann Summer(Dawn Well)- A simple farm girl from Windfield,Kansas.

The show follows seven people, who go on a three hour cruise from Honolulu and run in to a tropical storm causing them to be shipwrecked on an unknown Island out in the pacific ocean. Most of their attempts to get off the Island were not successful. There were a lot of different individual ideas, but none resulted in anyone getting off the Island.

Gilligan’s Island was created by Sherwood Schwartz in 1963.  Schwartz was an academic with degrees in zoology and psychology. He intended for the program to be a meaningful examination of American life.

In one of the episodes of season 2 “Feed the kitty”,Skipper finds a crate that washed up on the Island and starts building an object for their little village till Gilligan shows up and points out that there is writing on the boards. So the put the boards together and it has the location on, where is was from an the name. what they didn’t understand was that  there was something in the crate. Eventually the professor showed up and told them that a  ferocious lion was in the crate. When everyone found out about a lion being loose on the island they all get terrified, but Gilligan works up the courage to remove a thorn from the lion’s paw, and as a result as gained a friend, making a small circus with the lion teaching him tricks. Then the time came where the lion had to be put in a cage. The next morning they see that the lion is floating in the water and Gilligan spends his afternoon listening to the radio to see if the lion was found , the lion was found causing Gilligan to be happy.
