A sitcom is a situation comedy. In the sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie” a  2,000-year-old beautiful genie was rescued by an astronaut who rubbed her bottle after crash landing his shuttle on a beach. When the genie came out she tells him that he is her master and she’ll do anything. He then wishes to go home by himself, but then she follows him home and won’t leave. “I Dream of Jeannie” is an amusing and entertaining sitcom that people love to watch still.

The main characters were “Jeannie” and  Anthony “Tony” Nelson. Barbara Eden, played Jeannie who was a beautiful 2,000 year-old genie who fell in love with her master and wanted to be with him anywhere he went. Larry Hagman played Captain Anthony “Tony” Nelson who was engaged and trying to get Jeannie out of his life.

The minor characters were Major Roger Healey and Dr. Bellows. Bill Daily played Major Roger Healey, who knew about Jeannie. Hayden Rorke played Dr. Bellows, who thought Tony was crazy and didn’t believe him that Jeannie was real.

The first episode was about a captain who crashed landed his shuttle on the beach, and noticed a lamp then rubbed an came out a 2,000 year-old genie. The genie called him master and fell in love with him also, she followed him home, which he didn’t like because he was engaged. So he tried to tell someone but they didn’t see her because, she would only appear when it was just them two. His workers thought he was crazy because he started to act different after he came back from the beach.

“I Dream of Jeannie” is a better sitcom to watch. It is a very cute and entertaining sitcom to watch. Although it may be similar to “Bewitched” it has own different personalities of the characters and it tells a different story too. It also is very interesting than “The Partridge Family” and “The Brady Bunch”.

If they were to bring back “I dream of Jeannie” to today times, they should get similar people that look like the old characters and to keep the show like it was but, update it. I Dream of a Jeannie was a funny and romantic sitcom that should be a remake because, lots of people liked to watch it. Although, if  they did remake it the first will always be better.
